Reactivate Duo Mobile on a New Phone

  1. Open a new incognito or InPrivate window in your favorite browser.
  2. Navigate to my.ku.edu
  3. In the upper right hand corner, click on KU SSO Login
  4. Login to KU SSO as you normally would
  5. You will be presented with DUO Mobile, here click "Other options".
  6. Click the bottom option "Manage devices". NOTE you will still have to 2FA via SMS or phone call.
  7. Now you are presented with an option to 2FA. Use SMS or Phone call.
  8. Follow the prompts for which option you chose.
  9. Now DUO will send you to the Device management page. Find the device that you are replacing and click on the "I have a new phone option".

  10. Once you click on the "I have a new phone button" you will be asked to confirm ownership of the phone number.

  11. Duo will ask you to download the app if you haven't already.
    Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duosecurity.duomobile&hl=en_US&gl=US&pli=1
    iOS - https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/duo-mobile/id422663827
  12. In the DUO App at the top, click the Add button, then at the top of the list you should have "Scan QR Code" click that, and scan the QR code on the screen. NOTE: iOS or Android may ask you to allow access to the camera, you will want to allow this in order for scanning to work properly.
  13. DUO will now say that DUO Mobile is added and that since you added a phone number you can also use text messages and phone calls to 2fa. Press continue.

That is it. At this point you can close out of the incognito window.
