How to Troubleshoot Zoom Plugin Issues in Outlook (WINDOWS)

Sometimes Outlook will disable the Zoom Plugin for a number of reasons. This guide will help you through the troubleshooting process of re-enabling or re-installing the Zoom Outlook Plugin.

Process 1: Re-Enabling The Outlook Plugin

  1. Go to your main Outlook Window, then File. Under the left had side bar at the bottom, click Options
  2. Outlook Options should appear with a Sidebar, and General Settings area. On the Sidebar to the left, go to the 2nd from the bottom option, titled Add-ins
  3. The Add-In View is now pulled up to the right. You will now see a host of items that are configured with Outlook. Twards the bottom of that screen, you will see a title that says Inactive Application Add-ins. Under here you should see Zoom. If you do, at the very bottom of this window, you will see a go button. Click the go button. If you don't see Zoom under Inactive Add-Ins, skip this process and go to Process 2.
  4. Clicking the Go Button will open up the COM Add-ins page. Find Zoom in this list, click the check mark and then click OK. If you don't see Zoom in this list, please skip to Process 2.

  5. After clicking the check box and OK, you can back out of all the extra settings windows so you're back at your normal Inbox view. Look at the home tab of the Outlook Ribbon Bar to see if the Zoom Plugins are back. If they are, you did everything correctly. If they are not, please contact CPPR IT.

Process 2: Re-Installing The Zoom Plugin for Outlook on Windows.

At times, Process 1 in this knowledgebase article won't work for a number of reasons. In this process we will explain how to go about re-installing the Outlook Plugin for Windows.

  1. Close Outlook Desktop.
  2. Using your browser of choice, head over to kansas.zoom.us/downloads
  3. Find the download option that says Zoom Plugin for Microsoft Outlook and click the blue download button. Note: that this says for Microsoft Outlook and not for Outlook on the web. Save this to your downloads or wherever you would prefer if prompted.

  4. Locate your newly downloaded installer for the Outlook Plugin and double click on it.

  5. The Installer will appear. If the Zoom Outlook Plugin is not installed, you will see something like what is shown below. NOTE: if the Zoom Plugin is actually installed, the installer will give you one of two options. Repair the Zoom Outlook Plugin install, or Uninstall the Existing Install. You can choose to repair. Then start outlook to see if that resolved the issue, or uninstall then re-install with the same installer you just downloaded to see if that resolves the issue.

  6. Click next through the installer. You will need to click next 3 times. Once to start the installer. Once to choose the directory of where to install the plugin, note: do not change this. And a 3rd time to confirm the install. User Account Control will pop up asking YES or NO to the installation.

  7. After installation is complete, you will see a window like this.

  8. Click close. Then open Outlook.
