First Time Setup for OneDrive for Business Sync Client (Windows)

Please Note:

KU IT has remotely installed the OneDrive for Business sync client on most KU-owned workstations. Please follow the instructions below for setup.

If the OneDrive for Business sync client is not installed on your machine:

KU-Owned Workstations
If the OneDrive for Business sync client is not installed on your KU-owned workstation (search “OneDrive” in your applications), please contact your IT support staff or the KU IT Customer Service Center at 785-864-8080 for installation assistance.

Non-KU-Owned computers
For non-KU-owned computers, to install the OneDrive for Business Sync Client, please visit the following KB for Office 365 installation instructions: https://kuit.service-now.com/kb_view.do?sysparm_article=KB0012602.

 1.  Launch One Drive for Business

     Windows 7

     Click the Start Menu, then All Programs, then Microsoft OneDrive

     

    or you can type 'Microsoft in the search box after pressing the Start Button and select 'Microsoft OneDrive'
    

   Windows 8/Windows 10

   Press the Windows Key+S on your keyboard to bring up the search bar, and type 'OneDrive' in the search bar, then select 'OneDrive'.  
   Please Note:  While the screenshots may different between Windows 8 and Windows 10, the process is the same.

    

 

2.  Once the program has launched, enter 'onlineID@home.ku.edu' and click 'Sign in', then click 'Sign In' again

    

3.  You will be redirected to a KU Login screen.  Enter your Online ID and Password in the fields provided and click 'Sign In'.  
     Please Note:  If you receive a pop-up that states 'There was an error running a script on this page', select yes.  This is expected behavior.

    

4.  You will be presented with the file path for your One Drive folder.  If you wish to change this path, click 'Change Location'.  Otherwise, click 'Next'.  It is recommended that you do not change the default OneDrive folder location.

   

5.  Select which files and folders you would like to Sync from your OneDrive and click Next; it is recommended that you select 'Sync all files and folders in my OneDrive'

   

6.  Select 'Open my OneDrive-The University of Kansas folder' button, and the process will be complete.  You can now drag files to this folder and they will sync to your online OneDrive account.
